Home Affairs to use biometrics for immigration control

Home Affairs says it will launch a biometric online platform for asylum applications by 10 November. Minister Leon Schreiber says asylum seekers will have to submit biometrics so the department can verify their identity, check if they previously had a rejected claim and verify passports. He says applicants keep re-applying to delay deportation. Schreiber stressed the Constitutional Court did not remove Home Affairs right to reject and deport those who don’t qualify.
