DA Reports Magareng To Public Protector For Three-year Failure To Restore
The Democratic Alliance says it has lodged a formal complaint with the office of the Public Protector in the Northern Cape regarding Magareng municipality’s failure to restore a reliable water supply to residents of Windsorton station. It is alleged that the residents have been without proper access to water for almost three years.
DA councilor at Magareng municipality councilor Willem Potgieter says the crisis began on the 15th October 2023, when the control box of the solar-powered water pump system at the borehole on Windsorton road was stolen. Potgieter says the DA reported the matter in writing to the then acting municipal manager who has since been appointed municipal manager. Potgieter says the following:
