MEC Matika committed to facilitating a process to resolve a dispute between Karikama high school
The MEC for sport, arts and culture Mr. Mangaliso Matika has committed to facilitating a process to resolve a dispute between Karikama high school and the Wafa Football and Netball clubs over access to a partially developed sports field adjacent to the school in Grikwastad. According to information, the issue relates to the right of use of the school sports fields and the absence of permission granted by the school. It is alleged that the two sporting clubs raised the concern with MEC Matika during the provincial executive council (EXCO) outreach program held in Grikwastad on Wednesday, the 9th September 2026. They allegedly told the Matika that the school is refusing to allow them to use the sports fields which are partially developed for soccer and netball.
