Police arrested two men and one woman in possession of suspected stolen goods and dangerous weapons in Kathu
Police says the destruction and theft of essential infrastructure pose a serious threat to communities, government departments and businesses, while also disrupting the delivery of essential services. In an effort to address this challenge, Kathu SAPS swiftly responded to information received regarding three individuals who were allegedly in possession of suspected stolen copper cables on the 5th September 2026 police who were conducting routine vehicle patrols in Kathu received information about two males and a female who were allegedly in possession of suspected stolen property in the vicinity of their patrol area. Police spokesperson warrant officer Molefi Shemane says the suspects, two males aged 28 and 36, and a 35-year-old female, were stopped and searched and discovered copper cables suspected to be stolen, and dangerous weapons, including butcher knives and a hacksaw, in their possession. Shemane says all three suspects are expected to appear at Kathu magistrate’s court soon on charges relating to the possession of suspected stolen property and possession of dangerous weapons, with the female suspect facing an additional charge of bribery. He says the JTG acting district commissioner brigadier Kenneth Baloyi, applauded the officials for their swift response to the information received and commended them for maintaining their professionalism and integrity by refusing the bribe.
