South Africa advances green hydrogen partnership in China

Electricity and Energy Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has witnessed the signing of a landmark collaboration between Sasol and Chinese technology company Envision during a visit to Beijing.

The agreement will see Envision design a green hydrogen system for Sasol's Sasolburg operations, integrating renewable energy, battery storage and electrolyser technologies to produce cost-effective green hydrogen. The project could also support the future production of eMethanol and sustainable aviation fuel.

The visit formed part of a "Team South Africa" mission, with the premiers of the Northern Cape, Limpopo, Eastern Cape and Western Cape joining the minister to promote investment and support the country's green energy transition.
