ZFM police conducted operation Shanela II in Upington

As part of the ongoing operation Shanela II, police conducted vehicle checkpoints (VCPs) in Upington and surrounding areas on the 7th July 2026. Police spokesperson warrant officer Molefi Shemane says during the operation police stopped and searched 21 vehicles while 51 individuals were searched as part of crime prevention efforts. Shemane says the ZF Mgcawu district management applauded the police officials for their dedication and professionalism, reaffirming that intelligence-led operations, targeted crime-fighting initiatives, and increased police visibility will continue to disrupt criminal activities, remove illicit substances from communities, and strengthen the authority of the state.
