Exposed Wires Pose Deadly Risk After Upington Storm
Residents of Upington, especially in Rosedale and Paballelo,
are facing serious dangers after extreme weather destroyed homes and left
electrical wires exposed. Many people feel abandoned by the government, saying
they have not received the help they need. A major concern is that the exposed
wires could cause serious injuries or even deaths.
Community members worry that children might accidentally touch the live wires while playing. Adults fixing their homes are also at risk, as they don’t know if the wires are still carrying electricity. They fear being electrocuted or causing explosions if the wires come into contact with metal. Although municipal vehicles have been seen in the area, residents say no officials have spoken to them or offered assistance. They are calling for urgent help to make the area safe again.
