The Northern Cape MEC for Roads and Public Works, Fufe Makatong recently announced the successful completion of the R21 million new Bankhara Clinic in the John Taolo Gaetsewe. According to MEC Makatong, the completion of the clinic is a pivotal milestone in the advancement of healthcare infrastructure in the Northern Cape and she adds that this clinic was completed by the Department of Roads and Public Works and handed over to the Department of Health on 26 April 2024. Makatong acknowledged that the journey to its completion, had its challenges as construction commenced in 2018 with the initial phase interrupted by the necessity for redesigning and the further unforeseen impact of the COVID-19 pandemic which forced a temporary shutdown, adding complexity to an already intricate timeline. She says material supply shortages exacerbated the situation, requiring resourcefulness and adaptability from all involved parties. The clinic opened its doors to the public today 8 May 2024. The opening ceremony of the clinic started this morning from 09:00 in the Gasegonyane local municipal area.
