The life of a 27 year old young women by the name of Pelonolo Phillips from delportshoop was allegedly violently taken by an ex boyfriend on the 2 march 2024. Phillips was a constable who completed her basic police training and graduated with flying colour's in December 2023 and was stationed in kuruman in he jtg municipal area. Following the this tragic death th MEC for Social Developmen, Ms Nontobeko Vilakazi accompanied by MEC for transport, Safety and Liaison, Ms Nomanda Bloem, the HOD, Ms Shouneez Kimmie-Wookey and officials from the local Municipality and community yesterday paid a visit to the bereaved family in Delportshoop. The MEC on behalf of the department committed to assisting the bereaved family with funeral and other needs they may have during this difficult time. Meanwhile the MEC also called on all women to speak out and seek help before it is too late and for all others to play their part in ending this cycle and generational curse of violence.
