Public Hearings on the preservation and development of Agricultural Land bill

Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Agriculture , Land Reform and Rural Development is conducting nationwide public hearings on the preservation and development of the Agricultural land bill. The committee will host hearings in the Namakwa, Pixley Ka Seme and ZF Mgcawu District municipal areas on 04, 05 and 06 August 2023 respectively.  The South African Agricultural Land Act of 1970 is currently administered  only by the national Department of Agriculture , Land Reform and Rural Development  and, as such, does not conform to the  constitutional requirements of cooperative  governance where national , provincial and local spheres of government have a role to play. The department says, the preservation and development  of the Agricultural Land bill seeks to rectify this, and to prove principles for the management of agricultural land. Inputs from individuals and interested organizations will ensure that the final product is the reflection of the will and aspirations of the people.
