The Tsantsabane local municipality in collaboration with the Kolomela and Beeshoek mines have launched a waste collection project by the
name of the Catalyst Project. The Tsantsabane local municipality says this
project is mainly focused on the removal of non collected waste, as well as the
identification of value waste for the purpose of selling and recycling is
funded through a grant which is specifically designed to support socio-economic
activities in communities, to increase employment and the establishment of SMME’s for the communities and also to alleviate unemployment by the
diversification of the economy. The municipality further adds that this project
in being unfolded in all wards across the Tsantsabane local municipal area and
has made provision for the creation of 400 jobs. The municipality finally
encourages the community work together to ensure that all residents can live in
a clean environment.
