NC schools deals with blow of destruction to infrastructure

The department of Education in the Northern Cape says a number of schools were affected by severe destruction, where schools and or portions of schools were burned down. Spokesperson of the department Geoffrey Van Der Merwe says the first of these being JJ Booysen Primary School in Loxton, which  was  supplied with mobile classrooms and a project for the replacement of burned structures that was completed earlier in 2023. He says classes are operational in the new brick and mortar structures. The department says another school that burnt was Sonskyn Intermediate School in Marydale which has been accommodated with mobile classrooms by a professional service provider that has been appointed for the planning and design of the replacement structures.  Followed by the Hoërskool Sutherland, Hoërskool Theron and SC Kearns secondary school in Upington that adds to the list of schools across the province that deals with damaged infrastructure.
